Dan Mastantuono, Jr. (aka Dan Mast), second generation and executive chef / consultant, took culinary courses at Purdue University and the Culinary Institute of America.
Dan studied pastry, chocolate making and ice carving under John Zenker (famed pastry chef best known for making President Kennedy’s birthday cake).
Dan was one of the founders, and past president, of the International Caterers Association. He continued to work until his death in 2020 at the age of 88.
Dan “Poppie” Mastantuono Sr. worked for the University Club of Chicago before starting his own business in 1946.
He was a familiar face at the Fulton Market for years, and was once featured on local television in that setting.
His biggest honor was to be blessed by the Pope when D'Masti prepared the only formal dinner for the Papal entourage upon their visit to Chicago. He loved coming to work until he passed way at the age of 87 in 1986.

Mark Mast, Operations and Sales Manager, taught food service management, sanitation and purchasing at Moraine Valley Community College. He currently sits on the Advisory Board for Moraine Valley Community College. He was one of the event coordinators for the 2002 Winter Olympics in Park City, UT.
Kathy Mast studied design at the International Academy of Design and
acts as Manager and Main Event Coordinator for D'Masti.
Elliott McCarty, chef, received his degree at The Cooking and Hospitality Institute of Chicago. He has been a loyal member of our team since 2000 and was also part of the D'Masti team working as an event chef at the 2002 Winter Olympic Games in Park City, UT.
